Hello Teachers!

Apple Wedge Packers invites you and your students to join us in Spring, 2005 for a new and exciting field trip opportunity. Visit us for "A Blooming Good Orchard Tour" and learn about the apple industry. Each student will take home a pencil and an apple project worksheet.

Apple Blossom Education

"A Blooming Good Orchard Wagon Tour"
Take a safe ride on our 40-seat covered wagon through a spring blizzard of blossoms and learn about the importance of the many spring jobs in an orchard such as pruning, mowing, limb separation and disease control. Guided wagon rides take one hour and begin at 10:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm.

The Buzz About Bees
Learn about bees and the pollination process and view a live bee observatory. This thirty-minute program is presented by the Henderson County Bee Keepers Association. Enjoy a cup of our apple cider while learning about the bees.

Chaperones: One adult chaperone per 10 students is suggested. Teachers and chaperones will be admitted free. Additional adults or parents wishing to attend may pay the student rate of $5.00.

Pre-Payment: Pre-payment is required to hold your space. Payment will be required by Friday, April 1, 2005.

Bring Your Lunch: If scheduling your tour around lunch time, you are welcome to bring a bag lunch and some blankets and enjoy your lunch under an apple tree.

About Apple Wedge Packers: We are a fifth generation family-owned business and the highest volume shipper of apples in the state. Owners, Greg & Lisa Nix have grown from 30 acres in 1979 to a present day acreage of 150. In addition to packing our own apples, we also pack for 15 other growers in the county. Apple Wedge produces several varieties of apples including Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Gingergold, Fuji, Gala, and Rome. As a wholesaler, you can find our fresh apples and cider in groceries such as Ingles, Fresh Market and Food Lion.
